Hey everyone!

I’m not sure how many of you are familiar with this makeup line, but if you are on social media alot, you should have come across them at least once. I was first introduced to them during a visit to Whitening Lightnings website.

I went on that site to look for a teeth whitening gel that I had heard a lot about, and came across some lip glosses that are supposed to be able to make your teeth look whiter when you wear them. I bought 2 of them to try, but in the end I ended up being more impressed with the mirror and the light on the packaging than I was with the product itself. The glosses were sticky, and I’m not a fan of sticky lip products.

After that I started to see other products popup on the website from a company called Gerard cosmetics. They seemed to offer very beautifully colored lip products in gold packaging. The products seemed to have decent reviews, but I still wasn’t quite compelled to purchase them for the price. I’m the kind of consumer who feels like they would spend more money on a lipstick, as opposed to a lip gloss. I feel like a lipstick is more of an investment. I even noticed that Gerard started to allow some more popular youtubers to collaborate with them and create their own colors.

Then they started to do lipsticks. Oh my goodness!! They were beautiful! I noticed that even one of my favorite youtubers Jaclyn Hill had created one.  I was just about to bite the bullet and purchase one of the lipsticks for the hefty $19 price tag, when I checked on instagram and saw that there was a coupon code to get two of the lipsticks for $20. That’s all anybody had to say to me. I took it as a sign, and logged on to the website to order.

The shipping was fast, but the way the lipsticks were packaged and mailed was nothing special. They were basically wrapped in bubble wrap, and mailed off in a brown envelope. The lipstick tubes, though lightweight, have a very luxe look. I was very pleased with the shades I chose. Both shades have a satin/matte finish, and glide on very smoothly.

The first lipstick was designed by Jaclyn Hill, and is called ‘1995’. It was very popular on social media, because it’s apparently able to give women of various complexions the Kylie Jenner lip, a craze that seemed to be very big in the end of 2014. It’s very reminiscent of the 1990s grunge style, but with a new timeless feel. I think it’s a very good nude lip for those with a darker skin complexion (for reference, I wear nw 45 in MAC foundation).

The other shade that I purchased was ‘Cherry Cordial’. It’s a fall appropriate, vampy shade. It’s a beautiful berry tone,and is very buildable from a light stain, to a very opaque and rich lip look. They both also last a VERY LONG TIME on the lips,and never feel drying, though they are matte.
